I actually color this strip weekly for syndication and let me tell you the Langston Hughes quotes get old. The artist must get pressed for time and I’m guessing he has a Hughes quote book laying around his office. Also, for the most part it’s not that funny.

The font is Comic Sans MS, and comes standard on Windows, so it’s not surprising people would choose it to caption a cartoon with.

(Even if the font is a terrible pox on “desktop publishing”.)

I found your site with the search for “jack elrod shouting”. I was just wondering if anyone had noticed that everyone in his strips, both Mark Trail and The Ryatts, are always shouting! Unless their asking a question, of course. It trips me out…
