Metapost: HOLY CRAP I AM ON THE RADIO IN AUSTRALIA RIGHT NOW

Guys, I totally spaced on this, but if you are in Melbourne, Australia, you can listen to me on the Crimes Against Pop radio show at 94.9FM RIGHT AT THIS MOMENT (i.e., between noon and 2 pm local time on the 13th, 11 pm and 1 am US east coast time), or live on the Internets here! But don’t worry, it will also be available in podcast form later, which I will link to when available.

HOLY CRAP AUSTRALIA HAS A LOT OF DANGEROUS SPIDERS AND SNAKES AND THINGS

  2. sugarpie says:

All I’m hearing is some Heavy Metal band from Finland’s cover of Brittany Spear’s ‘Oops, I did it again.’ I’m going to need more bourbon and ether…

Want to appear on community radio in Sydney? toss me an e-mail

  4. bats :[ says:

What kind of station is this? Talk about an eclectic mix of programs! It’s kind of Rex Morgan (’The Petri Dish’) meets Luann (’Broadway at Bedtime’) meets Sam and Abbey (’Nocturnal Transmissions’)…

  5. zenvelo says:

Do I have to turn my computer upside down to get the broadcast?

do the dials turn anti-clockwise in the southern hemisphere?

  6. RJ the Janitor says:

Austrailia? Isn’t that out near New Jersey?

  7. Some Guy Here says:

    Wait, what, Australia?!

  8. True Fable says:

    Crikey!

  9. Lou Shumaker says:

Crap. They’re talking about the station’s favorite singers. Olivia Newton John is mentioned.

I didn’t know she was gay.

    (No, wait, Australian. Right.)

  10. True Fable says:

Today’s Mary Worth is a red letter day! Not only are they trying out an “almost human” look for Adrian – must be a shoutout or something, you know it can’t last – but Mary is slack-jawed, open-mouthed stunned to learn that anyone actually took her advice! Well, it IS Adrian, Mary. She’ll do anything to top Liz Patterson in the Ring Me Or Spring Me sweepstakes.

  11. True Fable says:

Sam Driver, inexplicable Chick Magnet and Manly Man Owww! Uhhh! C’mon, Eduardo, gimme a POW and a BANG and a ZOW! If we’re going to have Sam get all Tough Guy on the big thug, let’s really put the tuxedo on the cat!

  12. Poteet says:

    11/13

MW — Will anything else ever, like, happen in this strip? Or will we keep discussing Scott until the end of time?

S-M — So the only events worthy of photography in Spider-man’s city are crimes. Makes sense. I always figured that city must be a real hellhole.

ZITS — Was someone actually concerned that if the answer was even slightly more sane, like “two hours,” the strip wouldn’t be funny?

  13. Poteet says:

    # 10 Sir Fable MTK — You are right about the “almost human” face. But they gotta work on that second-panel *shudder* hand. Or at least keep it from waving in the air and trying to grab her face all the time.

  14. Poteet says:

11/13 9CL — Obviously this display of passion is taking place outside, since they are wearing coats. So the entire world can see how crazy they are about each other. Yes, Brooke, we are all very, very envious, just like you intend. We all wish we were Edda and Amos. Oh, how we wish we were them. It’s what we dream of. Oh yeah.

  15. True Fable says:

I, Platypus Hey, who’s the new guy?

Kit Walker, Skippin’ Out Ranger What?! Wow, Heloise sure takes after the old man. She’s got icewater in her so-called veins.

Dont Ask Dont Tell Or blow a seven inch flute!

  16. Aviatrix says:

Isn’t it amazing the stuff that can happen because you have a blog? I had someone contact me to be on CNN. (I declined, but if I were as funny as you I would have gone for it).

  17. Alfred E. Neuman says:

I’ve heard that animated comics mash-ups are big in Australia. In one of these, players try to toss Ziggy onto Aristotle Pappagoras’ latest girlfriend — something about throwing a shrimp on the Bobbie…

  18. Sheila Sternwell says:

MW: Aw, it’s cute how Mary pretends like she had no idea she was giving advice.

Cap’n Stripeypants: That’s the saddest thing I’ve ever seen. The kids KNOW they’re just a big bother.

  19. Mars says:

#16. Hey, pass me the number; I wanna be on CNN!

  21. Bert Newton says:

Actually, the show is called The Outland Institute – Crimes Against Pop is a segment toward the end (today it was a rapping Klingon. Curiously, that’s not the worst one they’ve played). http://outlandinstitute.wordpress.com/the-radio-show/

  22. David Nichols says:

Well, I am in Melbourne, Australia and I read TCC every day – but had never heard of the Outland Institute or listened to Joy. Looking forward to the podcast. Actually, the show looks pretty good from week to week.

  23. KarMann says:

Meanwhile, misread of the day: In A3G, I misread the first panel as “It’s been a long time since I’ve had a good lay, Aristotle.” Sounds about right to me! So much so, I wonder if it wasn’t deliberately snuck in there.

  24. bisbane says:

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oi, Oi, Oi!! International fame! Pip, pip! I’m too late reading this to listen live, but I did listen a bit to other programing they offer. To many of us Yanks, Australia is both familiar and exotic. Similar history and background to ours for the familiarity part, and different enough is so many areas to seem truly exotic. I love footy!

  25. Flummoxicated says:

MW: You know what would make this story arc actually interesting? If Adrian hallucinated Scott’s miraculous recovery. I know plot twists that have not been telegraphed with a 2 x 4 are not a part of the Worthiverse, however.

  26. Trizshjen says:

the show is now up as a podcast
