Comment of the Week

Is this the first time we've seen the Daddy Daze daddy without glasses? There goes my theory that he was the victim of some diabolical experiment involving psychosis-inducing glasses.

The Lockhorns, 9/8/04

Some days, there are multiple comics in the paper just screaming out to be analyzed, praised, and/or skewered. And some days, there … aren’t. This is one of the latter kind of days, so here we go with a topic that I’ve been saving up for a dry spell: the Lockhorns’ feet.

Aren’t they funny looking? I think as a comic artist works for a while, their drawings must eventually become more and more abstract. The Lockhorns’ feet are essentially irregular pentagons. I like the way they splay out there. Kind of duck-like. Most of the characters have the same color pants and feet, too, which make them look like they’re wearing footie pajamas. It makes me laugh.

Um … OK, that’s pretty much it. Crap, I thought I could milk this for a bit longer. Better luck tomorrow, I hope.

Mark Trail, 9/7/04

I know, I know, I just did Mark Trail yesterday, but I couldn’t resist doing it again today as a bonus. I’d just like to point out that today’s episode is almost certainly actually about sex. That’s all. Carry on.

With access to my Web host’s logs, I can tell a lot about my readers. Sometimes, I can tell more than I really want to. For instance, if someone finds this Weblog via a search engine, I can tell what words they plugged into the search engine. Usually, they’re just looking up “josh reads the comics,” but sometimes their search terms are more … disturbing. I’m not sure what’s more alarming: the fact that someone searched on Yahoo for “miss buxley in a bikini,” or the fact that this Weblog was the number 11 result for that query. Anyway, in an attempt to embarrass and alienate my readership, I promise to post the most bizarre search queries to the blog.

Incidentally, I’d like to give a linkback to Tube City Almanac. I’m not saying that the author of this blog found my page by searching for pictures of Miss Buxley in a bikini, but I’m not saying that he didn’t, either.
